Celtic complete 3-0 victory over Scarborough
By Taran Dhamrait

Celtic comfortably despatched Scarborough Athletic 3-0 at The Flamingo Land Stadium with goals from Ashley Smith-Brown, Shane Killock and an own goal capping off a dominating performance away from home.

Celtic started the game brightly and had early efforts at goal from Sam Wedgbury and Kieran Wells.

Bolton loanee Jay Fitzmartin impressed, beating his man twice on two occasions and being fouled in the process. The second free-kick, saw Celtic take the lead from just outside the area on 16 minutes.

Smith-Brown stepped up and his powerful effort couldn’t be stopped by Ryan Whitley and Celtic were infront.

The home side could have responded shortly after, a ball across goal from the left was fired against the post by Kieran Glynn.

Louis Hood was tested a couple of times but was not troubled too often.

Before the break, Celtic could have doubled their lead. Scott Bakkor latched onto a loose pass, he beat one defender before laying the ball forwards into space from where he ran round another two defenders, he took the ball around the keeper but as he was about to tap into the empty net, a recovering defender managed to get a foot in and deflect Bakkor’s effort just wide of the post.

Celtic started the second half on the front foot and Wells saw a diving header just over the crossbar before Celtic did manage to score a second on 65 minutes.

Celtic had three consecutive corners in a row with the third from Fitzmartin meeting Killock who powered a header into the bottom left corner of the net.

Fitzmartin saw a powerful effort saved by the feet of Whitley after Celtic’s forward had waltzed his way into the box past a defender.

Wells went close again with a header before Celtic netted a third 10 minutes from time.

Fitzmartin’s corner from the left-hand side was palmed into his own net by Whitley.

Hood made an incredible save in the dying moments to deny a strike from the edge of the area and Celtic could have scored a fourth, looking very dangerous when breaking forward.

Celtic left Yorkshire with three deserved points after a fantastic controlling performance.
