Celtic Draw Away At Warrington
By Deborah Taylor

Celtic had chances, fewer than Warrington, but they had chances, with neither side able to take the chances, a goalless draw was the result.

Both teams warmed up the opposition keepers with simple strikes in the opening exchanges: Ben Garrity's header from a corner should have been the opener, but lacked the power to beat the imperious Jake Turner, whilst Scott Bakkor's low drive through a crowded box couldn't beat former Celtic custodian, Tony McMillan. Celtic's best early chance came as Warrington couldn't clear their lines from a corner, culminating in Matty Wolfenden's fierce strike taking a wicked deflection for a corner having been on-route to the bottom corner. Liam Tongue's twenty-five yard dipping shot flashed the wrong side of the post, whilst at the other end, neither Garrity nor James Caton could beat Taylor, who looked in total command of his goal.

The second half saw Warrington carve out the most chances, Tony Gray's close range header, turning back Caton's cross back across Taylor's goal was good, but not good enough to beat Taylor. Liam Tongue and Scott Wilson both kept Warrington narrow, forcing them through the middle, where Michael Clark and Danny Brady maintained their excellent partnership. John Marsden twice went close, flashing one just wide and one just over.

As the game went into stoppage time, Celtic had the best chance of the game, Marsden finally forced McMillan into showing what he could do, with an excellent diagonal shot that McMillan twisted to reach, and had to claim at the second attempt.

It maintains Celtic's unbeaten start to the season, but our hundred percent win stat has gone at Warrington.
