Matthew is the reserve goalkeeper at Blackburn Rovers, who are keen to train him up for first team football. He has spent his entire career so far at Blackburn, from the age of eight he was in the youth academy, winning the Lancashire Senior Cup, saving two penalties in the final. He repeated his penalty saving exploits the following season when Blackburn drew in the quarter finals of the Youth FA cup with Newcastle, this time making three saves. After a spending a months loan at Taunton Town, Matthew returned to Blackburn and was named on the subs bench for their final game of the season.
