Joe started out at Colne in 2009, moving onto Padiham for two seasons after one season at Colne. Two seasons at Northwich Victoria followed a brief stint at Clitheroe until in 2012. In 2014 he made a return to Colne, going onto make a further eighteen appearances and scoring twice. After a successful pre-season, Joe joined Stockport County in 2015, appearing five times and scoring once.
