Celtic had a considerable bit of luck to take Prescot Cables to a replay, though the best save of the match was pulled off by Marcus Burgess.

Prescot got the best of the chances, starting with Jordan Wynne's effort that was easily caught, whilst at the other end Oliver Roberts and Ross Killock both went close. The first of Celtic's let offs came when Josh Klein Davies got behind the Celtic defence to flick Josef Faux's cross over Joe Slinn, but the post denied him, the ball flying across the face to the opposite post, where Alex Honeyball could get the ball clear.

The best chance Celtic came at the start of the second half, when Matty Wolfenden latched onto Greg Wilkinson's through ball, got behind the Prescot defence, but Burgess pulled off a cracking close range reaction save.

As if hitting the post once wasn't enough, Faux did it again ten minutes into the second half, shortly after lobbing the ball straight into Slinn's hands, he found himself in space from Jordan Southworth's cross, but his shot crashed off the bar. Southworth also put a cross through the box that really should have been picked up by somebody, with Slinn chasing across the six yard box to collect the ball.

In truth, Prescot probably deserved the win, but as Celtic have found many times before, if you don't score, you can't win. Celtic now get to take them back to Bower Fold.
