Scott came through the youth ranks at his home town club of Oldham, sticking with them despite an approach from Bolton in 2005. Such was his scoring form that Everton eventually lured him to Goodison in 2006. Though he didn't make it to the first team for the Toffees, he was sent out on loan in 2008 to first Yeovil and then Macclesfield, before signing for Rochdale in 2009 where he made four first team appearances. In 2010 he joined Southend United, making seventeen appearances and scoring four times including on his debut from the bench against Huddersfield Town. In 2011 he made the switch to Lincoln City, going on to make nine appearances, but was unable to find a goal, and moved to Hyde in 2011, where he spent three seasons and became a crowd favourite scoring fifty goals (including one from the spot on his debut that marked the start of scoring in his first nine games). He made over a hundred and two appearances, helping Hyde to the title and promotion. In 2014 he made three loan appearances for Halifax, whilst Hyde were in the Premier, scoring twice, before returning to Hyde and finishing their first season in non-league's top flight with thirty-five goals and the Player of the Season award. He made a season long switch to Stockport County in 2014, before returning in 2015 to Hyde, where he made another impressive season, despite a three month ban. In 2016 he moved back to Stockport County, from where he joins Celtic.
