Anton represented Merseyside Schools and Knowsley Borough in an American youth tournament. A tough tackling midfielder, he started with Southport before moving to Kendal Town in 2000. After a short spell in the Lakes, he moved home to Liverpool and joined Marine, playing for the Mariners for two seasons, before joining Colwyn Bay in December 2002. At the end of the season, he moved back to Merseyside to play for Vauxhall Motors, becoming one of their most consistent and revered players. A tempting move to Runcorn FC Halton was too much to turn down, and he proved his loyalty sticking with the Linnets through their troubled times, eventually forced to leave when he was quickly snapped up by Witton Albion in March 2005. He was so impressive at Witton that he was scouted for and snapped up by Harrogate Town in October the same year, staying in Yorkshire until the end of the season, when he moved to Lancaster. Financial trouble at Lancaster has forced him on the road again, and Celtic signed him on for a few weeks.
