Andy started banging in goals for fun at Frickley Athletic in 1994, nearly winning the golden boot at his first attempt with 34 goals. This kind of form brought him to the attention of Rotherham, who requested the pleasure of his company. He played for Rotherham for 4 years, making over a hundred appearances and scoring 20 goals. Towards the end of his time with Rotherham, he was sent on loan to Woking, made two appearances and scored 4 goals, not bad by any standard. Though they wanted to keep him, Andy instead joined Hednesford Town in June 1998. He did not get many games, but still scored three goals during his 8 months there, and that included a month on loan up at Doncaster, where he netted a couple. After Hednesford, he joined Barrow in February 1999, and then returned to his roots with Frickley for nearly a season before joining Bradford Park Avenue, where he has been banging in goals ever since, scoring 90+ goals in less than 200 appearances. He continued this form in his couple of months at the end of the 2003/04 season grabbing 9 goals in 13 appearances, including a goal on his debut away at Spennymoor. He was the golden boot winner in the 2004/05 season, but never really regained the goal scoring form of the previous season and joined Ossett Town.
