Chris Willcock has written the following message to our supporters.

Following our confirmed relegation on Tuesday evening, I'm finding it very difficult to write this, especially as this isn’t something I have experienced before. I am sure everybody associated with the football club is finding it extremely difficult to comprehend what has happened during the course of the season.

The fans were incredible before kick-off on Tuesday, and their support during the warm-up was truly motivating for our management team and players.

I also understand that emotions can run high during such difficult moments.

It is important to remember that despite the big financial setback, everyone involved in the dressing room remained committed and dedicated throughout the entire season. People could have left the club in January, but they chose to stay because they cared about the club and believed that we could fight to remain at Step 3.

Therefore, I must say that some of the comments directed towards the players and management team were unwarranted, unjust and unacceptable. We all worked tirelessly to try and turn things around, and it is not fair to blame any one individual or group for our relegation as it has been collective as a club as a whole.

Relegation wasn't what I had planned when I was given the opportunity to become manager of my local club. There have been many twists and turns and so many different scenarios where we could have accumulated a number of points to get us out of the situation that we found ourselves in, but in the end, the league table never lies, and every aspect of the football club has not been operating at the levels required for us to stay in Step 3.

However, I firmly believe that we have the opportunity to regenerate and come back stronger than ever. With the support of our incredible fans and the addition of the supporters association, we have the potential to build a new culture and a new way of thinking that will enable us to thrive and succeed going forward.

I want to thank everyone who has been involved at the club for their unwavering support throughout this difficult season as it has helped to keep us going even during the toughest of times. As we approach the final game of the season, we need the continued passion, support, and voices of all our fans more than ever before. Your dedication and enthusiasm have been crucial in keeping us going through all the ups and downs of the season. So, I urge you to come out in full force for the final game and let your voices be heard loud and clear. Keep banging the drum, singing your chants and cheering us on until the very last whistle. Let’s all have a beer together after the game!

I want to finish by saying that we are at a crossroads in the history of the football club, and we have the power to choose our path forward. Let's use this massive setback as a catalyst for positive change and channel our energy towards creating a brighter future for our club. I am confident that with the right mindset, the right strategy, and the right team (both on and off the pitch), we can achieve anything we set our minds to. I believe that together, we can create a new positive, forward-thinking club that will enable us to bring back success in the foreseeable future.

Gaffer.
