Author: Taran Dhamrait - Thu 6 Nov 25Stalybridge Celtic is thrilled to have completed the signing of defender Aaron Chalmers who returns to the Club from Wythenshawe FC.
The popular defender signs for Celtic for a third spell, looking to build on his 109 appearances in blue and white.
Having departed Celtic just under 12 months ago for Bury, the 34-year-old helped the Shakers secure the North West Counties title before a brief spell at Wythenshawe FC which now sees Chalmers re-sign for Celtic and join Jon Macken’s squad.
Aaron made his debut for the Club in July 2015 in a 2-2 draw vs Hyde United. Making 89 appearances, he then departed for Ashton United in 2017. A move back to Bower Fold took place in the summer of 2024 where Aaron played 20 games for the Club, including a spell as part of our interim management team under Liam Tongue.
After making his return to Celtic, Aaron said: “I’ve loved it at Stalybridge every time I’ve been at the Club. It feels like home and I’m very pleased to be coming back.”
Jon Macken expressed his delight at having Aaron back with the Club, he said: “I’m really pleased to have got Aaron back with us. I think we won five out of our last six games last season when Aaron was part of the team, so I know how big of an impact he can make both on and off the pitch, especially with his leadership qualities. He’s loved around the Club and in the stands, and is a really top addition to our squad. I hope you’ll look forward to seeing him back out in Celtic colours.”
Welcome back Az!
Aaron is available to sponsor for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Contact club@stalycelticfc.co.uk for more information.
