Author: Taran Dhamrait - Fri 20 Jan 23Stalybridge Celtic is pleased to confirm Under 18’s and Under 21’s duo Matty Jones and Glebs Klujevs have signed first team forms and will join Chris Willcock’s squad.
Both Matty and Glebs who are 18, have impressed this season for both the clubs Under 18’s and Under 21’s teams and have caught the eye of First Team Manager Chris Willcock in training.
Matty, a central midfielder, previously made eight appearances for the club during the 2021-22 season. He scored a stunning goal on his debut in the Cheshire Senior Cup in a 3-0 win away at Congleton Town and also netted a last minute equaliser in a 3-3 draw away to Bootle, in which Celtic won on penalties in the FA Trophy after coming back from 3-1 down.
Glebs joined Celtic at the start of the 2022-23 season and is a central defender. He was at Blackburn Rovers between the ages of 11 to 15 and then joined former Football League club Bury. He has represented his national side Latvia, at Under 17’s level, having played in games against Estonia and Lithuania.
Both Matty and Glebs can be found on Twitter @MatthewJones_5 and @KlujevsGlebs.
Congratulations to Matty and Glebs!
