Chris Willcock has written the following update which was due to be shared as part of his programme notes in the Bower Bulletin vs Radcliffe.

You will have seen the news released by the club this week. It has been really tough and it’s not an enjoyable situation for anyone. Unfortunately we will have to lose some members of the squad which we wouldn’t have wanted to do, and I can only thank those that leave for their hard work, commitment and efforts this season.

A massive positive is that I have been able to retain almost all of the squad with 18 players agreeing to stay. I have a huge amount of respect for the players that have stayed and committed to the club and above all shown loyalty to myself, our staff and the club which is a rarity in this day and age.

The squad we have built is a close knit group and they believe in the process we’ve started and have a fantastic mentality and want to play and do well for this football club.

I speak as a fan and I know that the future of the club is the most important thing. So whilst what has happened is hugely challenging, now more than ever is the time to put your differences aside and come and support the club you love as much as myself and the players do.

We are all determined to continue and fight for Stalybridge Celtic, but to do that we need everyone associated with Stalybridge Celtic, to come together and back the club.

Your support this season has been excellent and it really does make a difference to the lads on the pitch who are putting in 100% every week. We all thank you and appreciate your backing - now is the time to get even more people through the gate and make your voices louder than ever.
