All goalless at Bower Fold as Guiseley thwarted
By Deborah Taylor

Celtic relied on a little luck and a lot of steel in defence to keep Guiseley at bay.

It took until the half hour mark for Celtic to register a shot, but before that John Johnston had tested Greg Hall three times, the first, requiring a flying save from Hall as Johnston cut inside before the game had reached the five minute mark. Johnston and Charlie Wood both fired wide, and Adam Haw’s shot left Cameron Darkwah’s ears ringing after he put his head in the path of the shot. Finally, Celtic ventured forward, Ben Woods and Osebi Abadaki interchanging for a superb cross into the box, Cameron Darkwah powering in to head over the bar. Guiseley should have been a goal up at half time when Lewis Hey’s diagonal run and shot smacked against the upright and hacked cleark by Kyle Harrison.

The second half followed a similar vein. Charlie Wood and Jake Cassidy forced into shooting when not ideal by a stern Celtic defence, firing wide, before Wood hit the woodwork, this time the outside of the post to fly wide whilst Cassidy scuffed his shot to trundle into Hall’s waiting arms. Celtic’s one and only shot on target saw Kyle Harrison’s shot from a corner deep into stoppage time blocked on the line by Spencer Harris. It would have been harsh on Guiseley had Celtic snatched the three points at the death, but we didn’t.
