Match Preview :- Alfreton Town - Monday August 30th, 2004 (19:45:00)
On Monday, at 3pm, the visitors to Bower Fold will be Alfreton Town. Alfreton are currently the highest placed of the ex-Unibond teams, sitting as they are in 3rd.

They have lost this season, once to Hinckley, but both of their away matches, Redditch and Gainsborough have been moral boosting wins for the Reds. Peter Duffield has scored 3 times in 5 games, seemingly scoring in alternate games ? the last goal being in the last match, so hopefully he'll continue his pattern and not get on the score sheet. Their last scalp was Saturday, beating a 10-man Vauxhall Motors.

They have scored in four out of their five games, but against teams whose defence is suspect. Only three of their ten goals have come before half time, and even then it was only just, however, they have conceded only one goal before half time (again, only just).

Alfreton have not injury or suspension worries ahead of the game, and their likely team make up is:
1. Lee Butler
2. Carl Bradshaw
3. Grant Brown
4. Mark Blount
5. Mark Hume
6. Matt Fisher
7. Ian Robinson
8. Mitch Ward
9. Peter Duffield
10. Mick Godber
11. Emeka Nwadike

Celtic have several players missing. Gregg Pearce had a recurrence of his hamstring problem, whilst Chris Denham and Danny Caldecott are both at least a month away yet. Calcutt and Sykes will both have fitness tests ahead of the game, both taking heavy knocks in the Droylsden game. Gary Williams is still awaiting international clearance. Celtic's likely starting team is:

1. Craig Dootson
2. Dave German
3. Tony Whealing
4. Ben Smith
5. Barrie Keeling
6. Nathan Wharton
7. Paul Sykes / Lee Connell*
8. Kevin Parr
9. Andy Hayward
10. Phil Eastwood
11. Dean Calcutt/Ian Monk*
*Depending on the outcome of the fitness tests.

The defence is looking pretty strong at the moment, conceding 5 so far, which is the 6th best in the league. If the strikers can find their shooting boots, there's no reason why the predicted outcome of this match, 1-1, cannot be turned into a win.
