Match Preview :- West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC - Saturday August 24th, 2019 (15:00:00)

On Saturday Celtic are in Preliminary round of the FA Cup for the first time since 1987 when we host West Didsbury and Chorlton. West are currently third in the North West Counties League Division One South, three divisions below Celtic.

With West having won four of their five opening games, drawing the fifth and have already beaten Squires Gate to get to this round of the FA Cup, giving them an unbeaten start to the season, so Celtic should not be complacent going into the match. Celtic's FA Cup escaped are littered with banana skins, and West will be hoping to add another.

West's last match was against Cheadle Town, whom they beat at home 2-1, with Matthew Boland and Dylan Moloney cancelling out Grant Shelton's opener to continue their unbeaten start. They kicked off their season away at Eccleshall, beating them 4-0, before dropping their only points of the season at home to Wythenshaw Town, drawing 1-1. They have followed this up with wins over Stockport Town, Abbey Hey and Cheadle. Along the way, away at Squires Gate there was something of an upset, beating the team from the league above 2-1.

So far this season, they have notched up thirteen goals and conceded four, keeping two clean sheets along the way. In Andrew Jones they have a cracking keeper who was named man of the match against Cheadle.

In their last match, the 2-1 home win over Cheadle, they lined up as:
1. Andrew Jones
2. Christopher Middleton
3. Ben Woods
4. Josh Tinker
5. Jamie Forbes
6. Matthew Eckersley
7. Dylan Moloney
8. Callum Jones
9. Ashley Woods
10. Kristian Holt
11. Matthew Boland

In Celtic's last match, the 5-1 home win over Scarborough Athletic, we lined up as:
1. Alex Fojtíček
2. Declan Walker
3. Kallum Mantack
4. Anthony Whitehead
5. Mark Lees
6. Stephen O'Halloran
7. Scott Bakkor
8. Ross Dent
9. Craig Hobson
10. Nathan Valentine
11. Neil Kengni

Last season Celtic went out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle to a lower league opposition, beaten away by Radcliffe Borough 1-0, whilst the season before we made it through the first round, only to be knocked out by Chorley. Celtic's runs in the FA Cup are quite often disappointing, so Celtic should not take Saturday's opposition lightly.
