Match Preview :- Tamworth - Saturday January 23rd, 2016 (15:00:00)

On Saturday, Celtic host Tamworth (kick off 3pm). Tamworth are currently seventh in the league, seven places and six points above Celtic, though they have played a game more. There will be a match centre for this game.

Whilst they had a eleven game unbeaten streak at the start of the season with one loss in their opening nineteen games, they are now without a win in their last five games, and have not won away from home since they beat Lowestoft in October. Their last game was only a draw thanks to a late, late equaliser from Danny Newton. During their nineteen opening games, they won eight, the rest (apart from defeat away at Curzon Ashton) were draws. As highly placed as they are, they have won only three of their twelve away games, lost four and drawn five. They have had more draws in the league than any other team, with eleven.

Tamworth have failed to score in four of those twelve away games and kept three clean sheets. Their top scorer is Elliot Durrell, who has seven goals – most of his goals have come away from home, and he has almost half of Tamworth's away goals. They've only scored sixteen at home, but at home they've conceded nine, whereas away they've conceded fifteen goals. This is a rate of 1.2 goals per game both conceded and scored away from home. With a quarter of their goals (six of twenty-four) conceded just before half time, this is definitely their most vulnerable period. Their strongest period is either side of half time, with eight of their thirty goals scored here. They have never won a game that they've been trailing at half time.

We have crossed paths with Tamworth nine times over the past thirty years. They have never won in the league at Bower Fold, though they have won in the Trophy, back in 2007 when they won 2-0. In three league games, Celtic have won one and drawn two of the clashes, the last win being last season when we won 3-1, with Paul Ennis, James Cadman and Ben McKenna finding the net to cancel out Shane Clarke's twenty-six second goal. We have already played Tamworth this season, unsurprisingly it was a draw, 1-1, with Bohan Dixon scoring a wonder strike, thirty-five yard screamer, only to see it cancelled out deep into injury time by Ross Dyer.

Tamworth recently bolstered their squad, signing Ellis Deeney from Worcester. In their last match, the 1-1 draw with FC United of Manchester, Tamworth lined up as:
1. James Belshaw
2. Andy Burns
3. Connor Taylor
4. Lee Smith
5. Steve Tomassen
6. Dan Preston
7. Elliot Durrell
8. Shane Clarke
9. Ross Dyer
10. Paul Green
11. Curtis Strong

Celtic's last match, the 4-1 away defeat to League Leaders, Solihull, saw us line up as:
1. Tony McMillan
2. Oliver Crowley
3. Danny Wisdom
4. John Shaw
5. Jack Higgins
6. Aaron Chalmers
7. Dale Wright
8. Alex Mudimu
9. Chris Simm
10. Steve Tames
11. Bohan Dixon

Celtic are ourselves now without a win in four games, with two losses and two draws. However, the two losses were away and our home form over the last five games is two wins, two draws and a loss (to Corby). A win on Saturday would see us three points behind Tamworth, with a game in hand. That said, we're only four points above the bottom three as well. Ten points separate seventh and twentieth. We're one and two points behind Alfreton and Gainsborough, with two games in hand on them, so a win could see us reach tenth, whilst a loss could see us drop to seventeenth. It is very congested at the moment.

AFC Fylde (46pts 4th) v Worcester City (25pts 18th)
AFC Telford (20pts 22nd) v Bradford Park Avenue (26pts 15th)
