Left winger, James, started out in the Liverpool youth system. In 2001 he joined as a trainee with Tranmere, actually making four first team appearances in his four years there, plus numerous bench appearances, but his career was blighted early by a broken neck in training. In March 2003, he departed Tranmere to join Macclesfield, but it was only to be a short stay with only two appearances off the bench before he moved into non-league to play for Vauxhall Motors. He had quite a successful season at Ellesmere Port, before moving to fledgling Conference club Altrincham in 2005, where he made less than ten appearances before being loaned to back to Vauxhall and then to Barrow. At the start of the 2006/07 season he regained a conference place when he joined Southport, from where we have signed him following his release.
