Danny was a stand in for Russ Hughes, and in his final appearance for Celtic kept a clean sheet to see Celtic win 1-0 at home to Southport in September 1991. He is currently a goalkeeping coach at Shrewsbury. After Celtic he went onto play for Tranmere Rovers. He made 111 appearances for Tranmere, which, with the 80 from his second stint in 2007, took his total to 191. Between the two stints was a four season spell at Grimsby Town, where kept another former Celtic and New Zealand international keeper, Jason Batty, out of the side. He made 181 appearances for Grimsby. 2003 saw him play 4 times for Leicester, then 40 times for Burnley before he returned to Tranmere in 2007. In 2009 he joined Middlesbrough, making 26 appearances in his season there, and then moved to first Sheffield and then Shrewsbury. After finishing playing he became the goalkeeping coach and assistant manager.
