After only six months of knowing each other the Young Blue Bloods did well in reaching the Final of the Challenge Cup only to lose to a good out-fit in Littleborough.

The Development started the game the better of the two sides and dominated proceedings with a couple of half chances going begging through San Jose and Kevin Lettany. But it was the Blue Bloods who took the lead when the striker pair combined and with a clever pass from Lettany, Joe San Jose made no mistake firing home from close range. It should have been 2 when San Jose found himself clear with only the keeper to beat but he put his shot wide.

Littleborough broke on a counter attack and the left-winger cut inside and equalised with a fine solo effort to make it 1-1. Bridge came back and a couple of more chances went begging before Littleborough took the lead. A mix up in defence found the Littleborough centre-forward through with only the keeper to beat and he scored making it 2-1 at the break.

The second half started at a high tempo and Bridge came back at Littleborough with Adam Massey hitting the woodwork from distance with a trade-mark free-kick. The game became even again with both defences on top. The Blue Bloods had another good chance to equalise late in the game but the Littleborough keeper pulled off a fine save from close range to win the cup and see the game out as 2-1 winners.

The Young Blue bloods did the Academy proud and it's only onwards and upwards from here. They now know what it takes to win and can only stand them in good stead for next season. Congratulations to Littleborough on winning the cup and the Young Blue Bloods will be back for another go next season, well done lads.
