Match Report -
Celtic fightback to claim a draw.
By Deborah Taylor

A screamer of an opener and an opportunistic goal saw the shares spoiled as Celtic draw 1-1 with Warrington Town.

Both sides had early chances, Ozzie Abadaki’s cross turned over his own bar by Evan Gumbs, while Isaac Buckley-Ricketts blazed his chance over the bar. Former Celt, Bohan Dixon, orchestrated the opener, finding Jay Harris ten yards outside the box with a perfect layoff, Harris sending an absolute screamer curling past Greg Hall into the back of the net. Warrington looked stronger for the remainder of the half, with Dixon, Edmund Clarke and Matthew McDonald all forcing Hall into action, who made a one on one save which saw him pick up a booking whilst denying McDonald. Celtic’s best chance saw Nathan Caine head Raul Correia's cross goalbound, with Anthony Thompson making a superb flying reaction save to deny Caine, but the attacker was adjudged to have fouled Gumbs on his way to goal, scratching off the save.

The second half started in much the same vein, Stefan Mols coming the closest with a low angled drive that Dahrius Waldron’s leg deflected into the side netting.

The tide turned when Abadaki latched onto a poor back pass by a defender to go one-on-one with Thompson. Thompson made himself big, but Abadaki knocked the ball past him, then waltzed around the defender who’d got back, and tapped into an empty net. Celtic looked the more likely to take the three points after that, but Caine and Abadaki could only fire over and the spoils were shared.
