Darren is a former Northern Ireland Under 21 player and started his career Derry based Trojans FC. He moved to Derry City in 1996 and made his debut against Sligo Rovers in February that year. He went on to be ever present helping them to win the NI League Cup. He joined Carlisle United in 2002 for ?100,000 and made over forty appearances for the Cumbrian club over two seasons before returning to Northern Ireland in 2004 to join Portadown, where he became captain in 2005. In 2006 he made a return to Derry City and played in all of their UEFA cup games before joining York City in 2007 for an undisclosed 'five figure' fee. Over two seasons he made thirty-six appearances and scored twice. At the end of the 2008/09 season he parted with York to return to Portadown for a second time, and was released in 2011, from where he joined us.
