Player Profile - Alex Higgins (16th Mar 2002 - 5th May 2002)
Alex started out at Hillsborough with Sheffield Wednesday (his hometown team) before moving on to join QPR in March of 2001. After making just one first team appearance in his 8 months with QPR (as a substitute for the final 10 minutes of a game against Wolves), he moved to Chester early in the 01/02 campaign on a free transfer. Though he was rated as a 'talented midfielder' by Rangers, he was told that they could not offer him a contract at the end of the season due to financial constraints. Crewe were interested in signing Alex, who can play either wide left or central midfield, but Chester offered him a better deal. When he failed to get into Chester's first team, he asked to be released in February 2002. The same thing happened at Celtic though, as he failed to get onto the field.
