Stalybridge Celtic can confirm the signing of exciting centre-half Tom Wilson who joins the club from Hallam FC.

The 19-year-old made 11 appearances for Hallam last season in the Northern Counties East Football League Division One.

Tom who is from Sheffield, started his career at boyhood club Sheffield United before taking a break from football.

He got back playing and whilst featuring for his college under 21s side, he was scouted by Hallam who he joined shortly after and has been ever since.

Tom is another who makes the move from Sheffield across to Manchester to join Celtic, following fellow new signing Mike Burke.

On completing his transfer to Celtic, Tom said: "The boys have been class with me since I arrived. The gaffer has given me a proper welcome as have the rest of the coaching staff.

"I'm right up for getting started with the lads, I think the standard is very good and I'm hoping we can kick on right from the off."

"I'm delighted to sign Tom," added Manager Simon Haworth.

"He's a real promising young centre-half who is very athletic and aggressive, but is also a good footballer.

"He has an excellent attitude and desire to improve and is very hungry for an opportunity."
