Bowerfold will once again play host to the Whit Friday Brass Band Contest on the 9th June, thus marking their 25th anniversary of their involvement.

Celtic's home is one of the 12 venues across Tameside that are hosting individual contests where bands are judged by an independent adjudicator.

With a high crowd expected for the event, Celtic will put up gazebos and extra seating for those in attendance.

In previous years bands have travelled significant distances to compete - even as far as Glasgow and Norway!

The Social Club bar will be open throughout, along with hot food available from the canteen.

Each event will be rewarding the best bands that perform at their contest.

Tameside Council will then award their prizes to the bands that have accumulated the most points out the twelve contests.

Mike Smith, the Clubs Community Officer, said: "The Brass Band Contest is something we at Stalybridge Celtic Foundation look forward to each year, welcoming the local non-football community to Bower Fold, to enjoy the great sounds of all the bands in the competition in a safe, welcoming, friendly environment".
