Preston born Conal joins from fellow Conference North side Gainsborough Trinity. He came through the ranks at the Liverpool Academy and has played for the English Schoolboys and the Irish Youth team (his grandfather is Irish…). He was released by Liverpool Academy in 2005 despite numerous appearances in the reserve side, and joined Bournemouth. First team appearances were hard to come by and Conal was sent on loan to first Morecombe in 2006 (3 appearances) and then Weymouth in 2007. After 11 appearances on loan, Weymouth signed Conal and he went on to make a further 20 appearances and score twice, before being sent on loan to Rushden & Diamonds in 2008 where he made 10 appearances. In the 2008/09 season, Conal signed for Forest Green Rovers, making eighty appearances and scoring ten times before a Cambridge came in with a fee for him and he signed for Cambridge United. He made thirty-three appearances for the ‘U’s scoring twice before injury saw him side lined, his recuperating took him to Telford (3 appearances) and Lincoln City (8 appearances and 2 goals) in 2011, before Lincoln signed him in 2012. He played a season for Lincoln, making just 7 appearances, and at the end of the 2012/13 season joined Gainsborough Trinity going on to make 14 appearances and scoring 4 times.
