It took until the second half until Celtic grabbed the only goal of the game against a team at the same level as Celtic, but in a neighbouring division.

The first half was a patient possession game, and for the first half hour, all the chances fell to Celtic, with Sean Tse on target with his header, whilst Jack Bannister, Liam Tongue and Josh Quarless were all off target. The best chances of the half, though, fell to Bradford, with the home side getting into the game with fifteen minutes to go. Oli Norman failing to get any power and Harry Colville missing the target from a yard out.

The second half saw Tse still up from a corner early on the half, after Tongue’s shot saw a deflection wide. Tse crossed back into the mix, Jack Irlam meeting it with a cushioned header. If he’d missed it, either Banister or Quarless had a tap in with the home defence AWOL. For the next ten minutes, both sides had chances, with Jack Banister and Quarless both close, but at the other end, a fine save by Charlie Monk kept Celtic in front as athletically pushed Whelan’s close range header around the post. Monk again came to Celtic’s rescue with a one handed flying save, again off a header, this time from Francis. Once again, Celtic finished the half the stronger of the two teams, with Connor Hughes unlucky not to give Celtic’s final pre-season match a gloss.
