Our postponed match sees Nantwich Town the visitor on Saturday. Nantwich are currently twentieth in the league with one win this season. Tickets are available on-line or on the gate.
Nantwich are one of only two teams yet to win away this season, the other being Whitby. Starting with two draws away at Lancaster and at home to Warrington Rylands, it’s been largely downhill from there. Their win this season came at home to Belper, whom they beat 1-0. Their only other points came in a goalless away draw at FC United. Most recently, in their last game, they lost 2-0 away at Atherton.
They have found the net five times this season, with Sean Cooke’s brace at home to Warrington Rylands making him their current top scorer. In their last six games, they’ve scored twice, kept two clean sheets (one away) and failed to score four times, twice away. On average they are scoring 0.6 goals per game (0.5 away), whilst conceding 1.1 goals per game (1.2 away). Former Celt, Daniel Cockerline, has their only first half goal scored this season, just before the interval away at Warrington Town.
Over the past thirty years, Nantwich have visited eight times, in that time Celtic have won three, drawn one and lost four. Although Scott Bakkor’s second half penalty put us through to the next round of the FA Trophy in our last win over Nantwich at Bower Fold in 2018, our last, and only, league win here was the year before when Alex Honeyball’s goal just before the interval was enough to take the three points. Nantwich have won their last two visits to Bower Fold last season and in January 2020.
