Celtic were never going to lose against Nantwich, it was only a case of if Nantwich could stop Celtic scoring. The first half saw Nantwich register not a single shot. Celtic camped in the Nantwich third, but the home side did well at reducing opportunities. Liam Tongue had two chances early on, Ben Garrett caught the first easily, and the second whistled over. Max Leonard looked for a goal on his one hundredth appearance, but couldn’t keep it down. Ruben Jerome forced Garrett into a couple of saves, and when Garrett got nowhere near Tongue’s shot half an hour in, only the crossbar prevented Celtic taking the lead.

The second half continued in the same vein. Liam Tongue’s free kick was denied by a great save from Garrett. Nantwich’s only chance came around the seventy minute mark, when Alex Panter had half a chance, but couldn’t reach Charlie Monks with Jack Byrne between him and goal. With twenty minutes left, Jerome went close, his header skidding past the post, whilst Ellis Horan’s effort had the precision but lacked the power, not so Liam Tongue’s effort on a breakaway from a corner. Freed with a pinpoint pass, one-on-one, his shot went top corner, but Garrett made an incredible save. From the corner, Aaron Chalmers got onto the ball in a melee, knocking it past Garrett, only for Jordan Hodkin stuck out a leg on the line to grab an underserved point for the home side.
