Celtic lose to Warrington Town
By Debbie Taylor

Celtic crashed to their second defeat in a row when Warrington Town steamrollered into Bower Fold.

As against South Shields, the Celtic backline looked strong, intercepting almost everything and keeping the visitors at bay limiting chances, with Celtic unable to penetrate at the sharp end either, chances were few. Andy White and Josh Amis had half chances for Warrington, but neither troubled Hall, whilst Godwin Abadaki’s effort failed to trouble Tony Thompson.

Right before the interval, Warrington got the breakthrough. A rapid counterattack put Celtic under pressure. Isaac Buckley-Ricketts beat Greg Hall, but Dahrius Waldron capped an excellent performance getting back to lift the shot over the bar. However, a simple corner undid that hard work. Buckley-Ricketts lifting it to the middle, Tom Hanningan with the header and with only seconds left on the clock, Warrington had the goal that would allow them to shut up shop in the second half.

And by fair means or foul, shut up shop they did. Rarely venturing into Celtic’s final third but keeping Celtic from their final third. Celtic’s best chances would have to come from set-pieces, but corners were wasted and with a free kick in a good position, Ben Woods fired over the bar. Again, right before the end of the half, Warrington counterattacked and only a really good save with Hall’s trailing foot one-on-one with Jordan Buckley deep into stoppage time kept the score line down.
