Keith Trudgeon Memorial Trophy goes to Hyde
By Debbie Taylor

A competitive first half saw Celtic take the lead, cancelled out ten minutes before half-time, but the second half saw wholesale changes to Celtic's line up and it gave Hyde the edge.

Early on both Ellis Horan and Obua Mugalula got behind a still asleep Hyde back line, relying on Jordan Eastham to make two decent stops at his near post, whilst at the other end, little got past Jack Tinning and Josh Granite, with Will Hall allowed to advance from midfield, but with no options, rolled the ball into the box for Charlie Monks to scoop up. Mugalula found a lot of joy down the left, and the goal started there, lifting the ball to Andy Scarisbrick, who put it into the path of Horan to volley home with his left foot into the top corner quarter of an hour in. Just over ten minutes later, and Hyde were level, Edy Maieco found himself unmarked in the Celtic six yard box to nod home Harry Ditchfield's cross.

The second half saw Celtic struggling to hold the ball up in the Hyde third, and Dontai Gabidon had the freedom of Bower Fold to rampage at the Celtic back line. He cut inside and hit the bar with one shot, and tried a curling effort from a tight angle requiring an excellent tip-over from Monks. Not the only excellent tip-over, with Eastham also required to give an athletic stop to deny a rocket from Jordan Butterworth. With ten minutes remaining, Hyde edged in front with a whipped in free kick from twenty-five yards by Ben Kershaw, which evaded everybody, including Monks, to fly into the top corner, and to finish the game off, Gabidon pulled the ball back for Tom Claire arriving into the box, who smashed a low shot into the bottom corner.

Still time to iron the wrinkles out before we travel to Runcorn in August.
