Match Report -
Six good goals
By Debbie Taylor

Trafford and Celtic played out a high-quality game with plenty of chances at both ends, but Celtic shaded it.

The first real chanced fell to Ruben Jerome, 25-yards out, forcing the Trafford keeper into a decent stop, but he couldn't hold it and Lewis Rawsthorn darted in, with the keeper pulling off a second, point-blank save. It took half an hour for Celtic to get their nose in front when Ellis Horan latched onto a poor clearance and sent a screamer in from outside the box, it hit the crossbar, bounced down, hit the bar again and went in. Six minutes later, and the two sides were level when the Trafford winger darted through the offside trap to go one-on-one and made no mistake to leave it level at half time.

Straight from the off and Celtic were back in front, Andy Scarisbrick found Benni Smales-Braithwaite who took two touches to make space and fired in a world-class goal. Less than ten minutes later, and Brad Byrne latched onto a pullback from the byline to smash in a shot from just inside the box to bring it level again. However, for the last half hour, Celtic rose through the gears. Liam Tongue's low rocket took a deflection for a corner. Jack Tinning volleyed the corner towards the top corner, but the keeper got a hand to it. Tongue again went close with a diagonal shot and Obua Mugalula danced along the byline and curled in his effort, but another good stop. The pressure had to tell, and it did when Smales-Braithwaite fired in another corker, the goalkeeper unable to hold it, and Jack Irlam powering in to smash Celtic back in front. And then it was four. Mugalula was set free to go one-on-one, he drew the keeper, rounded him and slotted home. Right before the final whistle, Mugalula and Smales-Braithwaite tag-teamed to bamboozle the defence, finishing with a curling shot from Smales-Braithwaite that produced yet another good stop to keep the winning margin down.
