It was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show for Celtic, as they suffered what may have been considered to be a surprise defeat at home to Witton Albion.
The home side went into the game full of confidence following the midweek win over Bury but were soon knocked off their stride by their fellow Cheshire side, who were well worth the three points on the day.
Witton's star players were undoubtedly the two strikers and it was Tom Hoyle who opened the scoring after being put through on goal to slot past Charlie Monks.
His partner up front, Freddy Garbutt, doubled the lead straight after the break, as he made no mistake in taking a cross from the edge of the box and riffling it home on the half volley.
Celtic looked for a way back into the match and hopes were raised when Benni Smales-Braithwaite reduced the arrears minutes later.
However, try as much as they did to search for the equaliser then it just wouldn't come and former Celt, Joe Duckworth, put the result out of question, as the game entered stoppage time.
As has also been the case then, in many seasons past, the league campaign starts with one win, one draw and one loss.
It's early days yet but any championship and promotion challenge does need to have strong home results and there's plenty of time left, to put that right.
