Celtic progress in the Manchester Cup
By Deborah Taylor

Crisp, clean passing saw Celtic ease past Radcliffe to face Curzon in the next round.

It could have been more comfortable, when Ethan Smyth brought down the tenacious Navid Nasseri in he box. Joe Duckworth saw his spot kick saved, though within six minutes, Liam Tongue’s insightful ball picked out the run of Jack Irlam, who raced into the box, one-on-one with the keeper, slotting it past him. Five minutes later and Tongue got one of his own, robbing Josh Wardle sixteen yards out, and curled a shot through a crowded box, past the fingertips of Mat Hewelt.

Radcliffe had to come at Celtic in the second half, but chances were scarce for the visitors. Daniel Adidagba should have scored, but couldn’t get on target and after that Celtic’s defence ascended. It took thirty minutes for Radcliffe worked another chance, Jamie McDonough’s through ball, Lucas Weaver finally beat the offside trap, one-on-one with James McClenaghan, winning the battle. McClenaghan did make the save in the last few minutes, from Jordan Shannon to prevent the game going to penalties and Celtic saw the game out.
