Match Report -
Another good performance
By Iain Benson
Celtic looked comfortable against Witton and but for an uncharacteristic defensive back-pass from Graeme Law, fresh back from his holiday in Spain, the result could have been in Celtic's favour. Law's pass to Ben Saynor was well short and allowed Chris Smith to latch onto it, take the ball around Saynor and roll it into the net.

From that point on, Celtic looked dominant.

Jody Banim took a free kick from the edge of the box that was well saved, and Matt Cooper, the keeper for Witton was again well positioned when Phil Marsh attempted to lob him after latching onto Greg Wilkinson's cross. Trialist Craig Mahon would have made a good impression had it not been for another good save from Cooper, when he lashed home Law's cross. Another clumsy tackle from Ian Kearney at the edge of the box gave Jody Banim another chance from a free kick, this time, the wall did its job, and from the resulting corner, Ryan Williams curled a looping shot just wide.

When Ben Harrison brought down Phil Marsh on the edge of the box, Banim got a third try, but again Cooper did well to get across to deny him. However, seconds before half time Matt Woods brought down Wilkinson, giving Banim a fourth try, this time he foxed Cooper, by firing the opposite way around the wall, and into the bottom corner.

The second half was the usual round of substitutions. The only chance of note was midway through the half when a loose ball fell to Lloyd Ellams, and he powered a half-volley into the ground that Cooper did well to get to, let alone hold onto. The game finished with a pair of corners, one at each end, but with no chances from them.
