Match Preview :- Wythenshawe Town - Saturday February 28th, 2026 (15:00:00)

On Saturday, weather permitting, Celtic hop across Manchester to face Wythenshawe Town. Wythenshawe are currently twenty-first in the league, on twenty-five points, thirty-points and fifteen places behind Celtic. Kick-off 3pm.

Wythenshawe have not had the best of seasons, with no team in the league winning fewer than their three home wins this season, picking up only one more home point than Trafford. Two of those home wins came at the end of November and mid-December, when they beat Kidsgrove 1-0 and Trafford 2-1. The three home games since Trafford saw them draw 1-1 with Khalsa, and lose to Newcastle and (most recently), Bury. They are no seven games without a win, and two consecutive losses. Their other home win took some time to come, when they beat Witton at the end of October. Most recently, they lost away 6-0 at Lower Breck.

Though they have scored the least amount of home goals of any team in the league (fourteen), they are sixth in terms of conceding at home (twenty-four). On average, they score 0.9 goals per game, whilst conceding 1.5 per home game (2.1overall), and have the worst away defence in the league. Seven of their eight failures to score have been at home, whilst two of their three clean sheets came at home. Demi Rhami leads their league goal scoring chart with nine, though Wealth Da Silva is right behind on eight. Between them, they have scored over half of Wythenshawe’s goals. Six of their goals come right after the restart, making this their dangerous period, whilst fifteen have come in the last ten minutes, making them vulnerable at the end.

We’ve played Wythenshawe already this season, back in November when we won 4-1 at Bower Fold with two goals from Andy Scarisbrick and one each for Ruben Jerome and Jack Irlam. Last season was our first league meeting with Wythenshawe and both home and away went in Celtic’s favour, winning 2-1 at home (Jack Irlam and Matty Bryan), and 2-0 away (Jack Irlam and Max Leonard). That’s three goals in three games Jack…just saying.

In Wythenshawe’s last match, the 6-0 away defeat to Lower Breck, Wythenshawe lined up as:
1. Aidan McKerney
2. Lewis Rhodes
3. Nathan Whalley
4. Domaine Rouse
5. Dan Dolling
6. Jack Taylor
7. Demi Rhami
8. Astley Mullholland
9. Saj Elhassen
10. Kobe McWilliams
11. Dylan Woods

In Celtic’s last match the 3-3 home draw with Clitheroe, Celtic lined up as:
1. Charlie Monks
2. Mike Koral
3. Kyle Brownhill
4. Aaron Chalmers
5. Jack Byrne
6. Andy Scarisbrick
7. Charlie Doyle
8. Liam Tongue
9. Ruben Jerome
10. Jack Irlam
11. Ellis Horran

If Celtic win and Vauxhall lose at home to Trafford, Celtic will replace them in the top five, and whilst we’d keep in touch with the top four, we cannot go any higher with a win. If Celtic lose or draw and Bootle win, we’d drop below Bootle into seventh.
