On Tuesday, Celtic host Sporting Khalsa. Freshly promoted Sporting Khalsa are currently second bottom with six points, fifteen places and seven points behind Celtic having played the same number of games. Kick-off is 7:45pm.
Khalsa are in somewhat of a false position, with three games in hand on the two teams above them, Darlaston and Newcastle, and if they won their games in hand would be fifteenth. They have only played two away games this season, with four at home; winning two of their home games against Congleton and Nantwich. The only team Khalsa have played who are not currently in the bottom half, are Chasetown, with Wythenshawe, Mossley and Newcastle all taking points off Khalsa. Tuesday’s visitors have lost their last three matches, most recently at home to Wythenshawe.
Away from home Khalsa have yet to score, but at home, Andre Landell is their top scorer with two, both scored in games Khalsa won. They have scored two and conceded eight in their last three matches. All but two goals have been scored in the first half, whilst all bar three of their eleven conceded goals have been in the second, with three scored in the last few minutes, although two of those were when Mossley scored twice in stoppage time in their last away match.
This is Sporting Khalsa’s first visit to Bower Fold, with the two teams never having met.
In Khalsa’s last match, the 2-3 home defeat by Wythenshawe, Sporting Khalsa lined up as:
1. Ravan Constable
2. Justice Campbell
3. Narel Phillips
4. Zak Kourouiyanni
5. Kartell Dawkins
6. Chay Tilt
7. Jack Fletcher
8. Andre Landell
9. Bradley Burgess
10. Stan Asomugha
11. Kristian Green
In Celtic’s last match, the 6-0 home win over Darlaston Town, Celtic lined up as:
1. Charlie Monks
2. Mike Koral
3. Kyle Brownhill
4. Jordan Butterworth
5. Jack Byrne
6. Jack Tinning
7. Brandon Newell
8. Liam Tongue
9. Benni Smales-Braithwaite
10. Jack Irlam
11. Andy Scarisbrick
Both Dylan Scott and Ruben Jerome are edging back to full fitness, and Charlie Doyle should be available to play. This is a chance for Celtic to go second, or third, if Chasetown beat Wythenshawe. And if we score six (or more) again, Celtic would be breaking yet more club records.
