Match Preview :- Chorley - Saturday August 23rd, 2014 (15:00:00)

On Saturday Celtic make the short hop over to newly promoted Chorley (kick off 3pm). Chorley are currently in seventh on five points, one point and three places ahead of tenth placed Celtic. There will be a live match centre for this game.

Chorley won the Evo-Stik Premier last season by one point over FC United of Manchester, finishing with an impressive ninety-seven points, winning twenty-nine and drawing ten, losing just seven times, with only three losses at home all season. They were beaten at home by Barwell (1-2), FC United (0-1) and Rushall Olympic (0-1), with the most recent of these being the FC United game in March. Their best home win last season was when they thumper Droylsden 13-1. Former Celtic striker, James Dean, was the top scorer last season for Chorley with twenty-four goals, with Josh Hine his closest rival on eighteen goals.

Our last meeting with Chorley was in 2001, when we knocked them out of the Unibond Cup, with a 4-2 win. In the league, it's been a close affair, with Chorley winning two of the last three meetings at Victory Park, the most recent of which was in November 1998, when Chorley won 2-1. Celtic's last win in Chorley was in October 1991 when we won 3-2, the year Celtic won the league.

Chorley have kicked off this season without a loss so far, with two draws and one win. They've beaten Colwyn Bay on the road 2-0, and drew 0-0 with Oxford. Their opening home match was a 2-2 draw with fellow promotees, Lowestoft Town. In both games they've scored, James Dean has been on the score sheet, twice scoring from the spot.

In Chorley's last match, the 0-0 away draw at Oxford, Chorley lined up as:
1. Sam Ashton
2. Mark Ross
3. Adam Dodd
4. Andy Teague
5. Tom Smyth
6. Jake Cottrell
7. Paul Jarvis
8. Dale Whitham
9. James Dean
10. Harry Winter
11. Chris Almond

In Celtic's last match, the 3-0 home loss to Solihull Moors, Celtic lined up as:
1. Lewis King
2. Kelvin Bleau
3. Jack Truelove
4. Matty Hughes
5. Matt Regan
6. Sam Staunton-Turner
7. Aidan Chippendale
8. Matty Mainwaring
9. Ben McKenna
10. Paul Ennis
11. Liam Dickinson

Celtic could do with a win on the road, but Chorley are still on a roll from last season's magnificent run in, so any points at Victory Park will be a bonus. Such is the nature of early season that Celtic's position could vary by several places either way.
