On Tuesday night, Celtic travel to Nottingham to face newly promoted Eastwood Town in the Conference North clash. Eastwood are currently top of the Blue Square North, and have spent their entire time in the play-off spots. They are eight places and eight points ahead of Celtic, having lost only once this season. There will be a live match centre for this game.
Although they have had a storming start to the season, they have played only two teams currently in the top ten, Fleetwood and Alfreton. The Fleetwood game is the only one that they have lost, losing 3-1 away from home, though they did beat Alfreton 2-1 at home. They started the season with a 1-1 draw with Northwich at home, and have yet to lose at home this season. So far, they have beaten Gloucester (17th), Harrogate (15th), Alfreton (6th), Hinckley (11th), Gainsborough (18th) and Blyth (12th). Their best win at home was their last match, a 4-2 win over Blyth. Away from home, their best win was a 4-1 win over Gainsborough. Eastwood have kept two clean sheets, one at home (1-0 over Hinckley) and one away (1-0 over Harrogate).
Eastwood?s top scorer so far is Danny Holland, who has five goals to his name, though Matty Barlow is not far behind him on four. Lindon Meikel and Ian Holmes look to be challenging Holland for the Eastwood golden boot this year, with both on three so far. Eastwood haven?t really conceded many, though with four of their nine conceded in the last fifteen minutes, this is their most vulnerable period; that said, they have also scored six of their seventeen goals in the same period, making it also their most dangerous.
We?ve not visited Eastwood Town, in the last 20 years at least, and with Eastwood?s home record, they automated prediction algorithm is suggesting a 3-2 win for the home side, though this is a difficult one to call, with Eastwood not really playing the top teams in the league, and Celtic having played most of them! Celtic will be facing former Celt Mark Hume in the Eastwood line up. Hume?s had several clubs since leaving Celtic, including Harrogate, where he scored against us.
In their last match, the 4-2 win over Blyth, Eastwood lined up as:
1. Ian Deakin
2. Martin Foster
3. Ryan Clarke
4. Emeke Nwadike
5. Mark Hume
6. Paul Robinson
7. David Brown
8. Anton Foster
9. Ian Holmes
10. Danny Holland
11. Lindon Meikle
Celtic blooded new signing Paul Ennis in our last match, the 2-1 away win over Farsley Celtic, with the other new signing Craig Hobson remaining on the bench. In that match, Celtic lined up as:
1. Paul Phillips
2. Richard Battersby
3. Graeme Law
4. Steve Woods
5. Warren Peyton
6. John Hardiker
7. Dave Hankin
8. Keith Briggs
9. Joe O?Neill
10. Matty Barlow
11. Connor Jennings
The two new signings certainly increase the options from the bench for Celtic, and we have steadily climbed the table since our wobbly start. We will be looking to continue this good form that has seen us win our last two matches against the division newcomers.
