Paul joined for one game from Bacup Borough, a team he has kept goal for since December 2000. Prior to joining Bacup he had a busy Millennium. He started at Barrow in August 1999, before moving on to Bamber Bridge in January. After a short spell at Irongate, Paul moved onto Lancaster City, who were having a keeper crisis. To gain first team experience he was sent on loan to Fleetwood Town in November 2000, before joining Bacup in December 2000 when Lancaster's keeper crisis ended. He is a team-mate of Dave German's in the International Fire Service Squad. When regular keeper Craig Dootson and Loan keeper Dave McCarthy was injured, Paul rejoined the team for the last four games of the season, and helped us to the Conference North.
