
Local born Danny (Ashton) started his career with Oldham Athletic back in 2002, making 64 appearances for the club over four seasons, scoring once. He spent 2003 on loan at Scarborough, though only made one appearance. In 2006 he joined Shrewsbury Town for two seasons, going onto make 42 appearances. In 2008, after a brief stint with Gretna of fifteen appearances, he returned to England with Chesterfield. Over two seasons he made 29 apperances and scoring three, with a period on loan at Darlington in 2009. 2010 saw him on the move again, this time to Crawley Town, where there were 14 appearances and a loan to Forest Green Rovers for 17 appearances. In 2011 he first joined Stockport County (1 appearance) then Hyde for 32 appearances, managing to bag four goals. He finished the season with Hyde, joining Altrincham for the first time in 2012, going on to make 36 appearances, before being tempted to join the mayfly club Celtic Nation for two games on route to Guiseley. Though he spent three years at Guiseley, he only made 17 appearances despite being a major part of their promotion push, with two loan spells at Hyde and Bradford Park Avenue in 2015. In 2016 he rejoined Altrincham via Ashton Curzon, before joining Celtic briefly before retiring.
