Lincoln joined from neighbours Ashton United. It was his goal that stopped Hyde from getting through the play-offs into the Conference North. It was also his tackle that put Craig Dootson out of action. He joined Ashton from Wakefield Emley initially for his abilities as a striker, but mainly as a defender. He started his career as a striker, and has played for Halifax Town. After John Reed took over as manager, he found himself surplus to requirements and joined Hyde United. After Hyde, he had stints at Frickley United, Ramsbottom United, Bradford Park Avenue and Salford City. A move into coaching saw him work with Chris Wilcock at Ramsbottom, before coming with him to Celtic.
