Author: Michael Brierley - Wed 5 Aug 26Stalybridge Celtic is saddened to learn of the passing of its former Supporters Chair, Bob Rhodes.
Bob was chair of the Supporters' Association from the late 1990's for a period of around 20 years, until its original disbanding prior to the Covid outbreak.
During his tenure as chair, together with his friend Ian Peace and a willing committee, Bob revived the original SCSA and transformed the shop from the fondly remembered programme outlet, ran by the two Kevin's, into the space occupied by the old sponsors lounge in the social club.
Under his stewardship, the SCSA raised much money that was donated to the club to help with ongoing financial issues and ground improvements at the time, as well as supplying and funding the purchase of team kit and replicas over many years.
Together with his son, Dan, Bob was also responsible for the introduction of 1909TV, the forerunner of showing match highlights from home games.
The Club sends its condolences to all Bob's family and friends.
Rest In Peace.
