Stalybridge Celtic are delighted to confirm that captain Liam Tongue will remain at Bower Fold for the 2026/27 season.

An influential figure both on and off the pitch, Liam has become a hugely important part of our side since re-joining the Club two seasons ago.

Since first arriving at Bower Fold in 2017, Tongue has gone on to make 149 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals and registering 26 assists across two spells with the Club.

Speaking after signing up for a third season, Liam said: “I couldn’t leave on 149.

“I always say play where you feel valued and play where you enjoy it and for me that place is Bower Fold.

“You won’t find a club with a better set of supporters.

”We’ve got to bottle up that feeling from last season and use it as fuel going into the new season. We all want to go that one step further next year and I want to be part of that!”
