Stalybridge Celtic is thrilled to announce the signing of NPL West title winning defender Jack Byrne.
The 23-year-old arrives at Bower Fold after lifting the NPL West with Widnes last season.
Following the sad news of Widnes’ withdrawal from the NPL, Jack has made the move to link up with Jon Macken’s side ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Jack leaves Widnes after making 71 appearances for the club, having also featured for the likes of Hyde United, Lancaster City in the NPL Premier Division.
After signing for Celtic, Jack says: “I’m absolutely over the moon to get on board with Stalybridge Celtic. They’ve always been a stand out club in my eyes. To finally start working with Jon Macken after nearly working together previously meant that as soon as he reached out, it was a no brainer for me.
“It was really a sad ending at Widnes after such a high last season so to have interest straight away is always a nice feeling!”
Jon Macken added: “We’re thrilled to be adding a really talented defender in Jack to our team. He is someone I have tried to sign previously and someone I know a lot about. He will add real quality and experience to our squad.
“He joins having played a part in Widnes winning the division last season and I’m sure he’ll bring that winning mentality to the Club.”
Welcome to Celtic, Jack!
