The Club wishes to provide a comprehensive update following our earlier statement issued on Wednesday, January 8th.
After conducting a thorough internal investigation, we can confirm that our player Joe Duckworth participated in a Midland League fixture representing Northwich Victoria, during which he unfortunately sustained an injury in the second half.
Our foremost concern was to ensure Joe’s well-being and to assess the nature of his injury. We are relieved to report that the injury is not as severe as initially feared, and we will continue to monitor his recovery closely.
It is important to note that the Club was not informed by any party that Northwich Victoria intended to field Joe in this match prior to the event. We have had subsequent conversations with Northwich Victoria and consider the matter closed.
As a professional member of Stalybridge Celtic Football Club, Joe has been reminded of his obligations and responsibilities to the Club. He fully comprehends the implications of this situation and has faced disciplinary action in accordance with our club policies. The integrity and commitment to our Club's values remain paramount, and we expect all players to uphold these standards at all times.
Joe wishes to make it clear that his commitment lies solely with Celtic and he is looking forward to helping the team between now and the end of the season.
