We’re pleased to confirm the signing of central defender Kailen Hatfield on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

Kailen joins Celtic after progressing through the ranks at Sheffield Wednesday and arrives after signing professional terms with the Owls in September. A regular for Wednesday’s U21’s side, and having captained the team, Kailen links up with Stalybridge Celtic ahead of tomorrow’s home game with Nantwich Town.

The 18-year-old first joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2024 and completed a two-year scholarship which finished this summer where he was then offered professional terms to continue his journey. Kailen also captained their U18 side during periods of the 2025-26 season and was on the bench for the First Team in their EFL Trophy win over Sunderland earlier this month.

Manager Dave Jones, said: “We are delighted to bring Kailen into the Club. He is a talented and committed defender and adds more balance to our squad. A special thanks to the staff at Sheffield Wednesday for helping to get this done.”

Welcome to Celtic, Kailen.
