We’re thrilled to officially confirm the signing of striker Joe Duckworth from Witton Albion.

The 23-year-old forward has started the 2024-25 season on fire, scoring eight goals in his first seven games.

After making the move over to Bower Fold, Joe tells us: “After speaking with the Club’s management and with a couple of lads I know, it was evident Stalybridge wanted to go in one direction which was up. This aligns with my personal ambitions in football so it was a no brainer.

“Anyone that knows me personally is aware of how much I enjoyed my time at Witton and how local I am to the club so to move was a difficult decision but this was an opportunity I felt I could not turn down.

“My hopes for the season are quite simple, to get promoted and if that’s going to be the case we need to be in it together as a whole club.

“I’ve made a good start to the season, ultimately just doing my job which is to score goals so hopefully I can kick on now and score a few more this season!”

Manager James Kinsey added: “In Joe, we have bought in one of the leagues leading goal scorers, who will bring pace and options in the final third.

“It’s been no secret in recent weeks that another CF has been on our radar. Whilst I understand some fans are panicking a bit with the comings and goings, they’ve been circumstances that are out of our control and we wish those players leaving us well.

“We have a plan for this season, and we’re playing very well, and have a very settled squad.

“Tomorrow is a big game. There is no City or United, so get down and get behind us. Any support would be massively appreciated.”

Joe lists Winsford United, FC United and Bury as some of his former clubs with the goalscorer now linking up with Celtic ahead of tomorrow’s FA Trophy tie.

Welcome to Celtic, Joe!
