We can provide a squad update ahead of Saturday’s FA Trophy tie vs Ossett United.

Josh Quarless has decided he’d prefer to move to a Club closer to home with the added constraints of travelling to Manchester and a change of job factors in his decision.

Danny Lafferty has joined Atherton Collieries as their new Assistant Manager with the opportunity to re-join his hometown Club and move into a staff role an opportunity he couldn’t turn down. Danny commented: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to James Kinsey and Dan Whiteside, they were absolutely brilliant with me when I sat down with them in the Summer.

“Pre-season was difficult for me as I was over in Germany with my son watching the Euro’s but James and Dan were class and let me ease my way back into things so I appreciate how good they’ve been with me.

“I’m gutted to be leaving the lads, it’s a bittersweet feeling. I’ve got this opportunity which is taking me into the next steps after my playing career, it’s local to me and it made sense to take it. But the lads have been class and I was really enjoying my time at the Club. I wasn’t looking to move or have any intentions, but this call came out of the blue and there’s a chance I wouldn’t get this opportunity further down the line.

“I really enjoyed my time, gutted its ended prematurely and I’d like to wish the players, management staff and the fans all the best going forward.”

We’d like to wish Josh and Danny the very best for their future careers.
