We’re delighted to announce Liam Tongue as our new Club Captain with Danny Lafferty as our Vice Captain.
Tongey who returned to Celtic for his second spell at the Club this summer was chosen by his teammates to be our new Club Captain with fellow new arrival Danny voted as our Vice Captain.
After being named Club Captain, Tongey told us: “When the Gaffer told me I had been chosen as our new captain, I was over the moon.
“It’s been nice to come back to the Club with the management and players seeing how much it’s improved and progressed.
“To be voted captain by the players for the new season means that little bit more. It’s always nice to be trusted by your teammates and be given the opportunity to lead the lads in the new season. Last season taught me a lot both on and off the pitch and I’m really looking forward to kicking things off with Bridge in August.
“Although there’s a lot of new faces, the lads have come together so quickly and there’s a real good feel around the place, with everyone looking forward to the new season and pulling in the same direction.
“Stick with us and we’ll see you all down at the fold soon.”
Manger James Kinsey said: “This season we need everybody to be a leader. We’ve seen great signs of the demands that the lads are going to ask for from each other already in pre season.
“We selected a captains group and have allowed the lads to vote for who they wanted as their captain. Tonguey is somebody who the lads clearly feel they want to lead them, but it’s important that everybody drives the standards this season.
“We’re excited to see us push on with Tonguey leading us out.”
Congratulations Tongey and Danny!
