We’re thrilled to confirm the signing of exciting forward Connor Hughes!

The 31-year-old attacker signs for the Club from Witton Albion where he finished as their top scorer last season, netting 15 goals.

Connor is no stranger to Bower Fold, having featured for the Club during the 2017-18 season, scoring five times and registering 19 assists in 31 games.

After signing up at Celtic for the new season, Connor said: “I’m delighted to sign for this football Club! I was here a few years ago and loved every minute, so I’m buzzing to be back.

"From speaking to the manager, they have some big plans and are a Club on the up, so I’m looking forward to getting going, scoring goals and seeing where it takes us.”

"Manager James Kinsey was excited to secure Connor’s signature, he added: “Connor is a player that we’ve known for a while now. He is the type of character we need around the changing room. He has the ability to play in a number of positions, but in recent years there has been one thing associated with him, he scores goals.

“It’s no secret we didn’t have enough goals from around the pitch last season and it’s important we address that. He has been really keen to come and we’re excited to see him back at the club.”

Starting his career at Oldham Athletic, Connor made eight senior appearances for The Latics before signing for Hyde United. Connor shone during his two years at Hyde, making 62 appearances and scoring 10 goals.

A move to Halifax Town followed before Connor’s first stint at Celtic during the 2017-18 season. Connor also featured for Curzon Ashton, Ashton United, Daisy Hill, Widnes and most recently Witton, where he recovered from injury to score 15 goals in 41 games last season.

Welcome back to Celtic, Connor!

We’ll be providing further news on player movements as and when we can.
